What CommonRoom is

CommonRoom is a persona-driven chatbot platform for EFL communication practice. It is designed to give students a lower-pressure conversational space where they can rehearse ideas, explore language, and prepare for discussion before entering human peer interaction.

CommonRoomは、EFLコミュニケーション実践のためのペルソナ駆動型チャットボット基盤です。学習者が実際の対人対話に入る前に、考えを試し、言語を探り、ディスカッションの準備をするための、より低いプレッシャーの会話空間を提供するよう設計されています。

The platform was designed by Lucas Dickerson around peer-like conversational personas rather than teacher-like AI tutors. The emphasis is on social realism, interactional flow, and classroom use, not just correction or isolated skill drills.
